Founded by Dave Friedberg, The Production Board is a San Francisco-based venture foundry and venture capital firm that builds and invests in technology businesses across life sciences, food and agriculture, and energy sectors. TPB builds businesses from scratch and invests across all stages, from seed and Series A to growth-stage investment rounds. Our expanding portfolio includes Triplebar, Pattern Ag, Supergut and many more.

TPB is backed by leading strategic and financial investors, including Alphabet, Allen & Company LLC, Cascade, and funds and accounts managed by BlackRock, Baillie Gifford, Koch Disruptive Technologies, Counterpoint Global (Morgan Stanley), Foxhaven Asset Management, and Arrowmark Partners. TPB announced a $300 million investment in 2021 to deliver on its mission to “Reimagine Earth.”

Dave Friedberg

Dave Friedberg is Partner and CEO of The Production Board (TPB), a venture foundry and investment holding company established to solve the most fundamental problems that affect our planet by reimagining global systems of production across food, agriculture, biomanufacturing, human health, and the broader life sciences. TPB builds and invests in businesses based on emerging scientific discoveries, partners with exceptional talent, and provides them with the capital, infrastructure and market insights needed to deliver meaningful improvement in the cost, energy, time, or carbon footprint of conventional systems.

Dave serves on numerous boards as director and adviser. Dave is one of four co-hosts of All-In, a top business and investing podcast. Prior to TPB, David was founder and CEO of The Climate Corporation, which he sold to Monsanto for $1.1 billion in 2013. Before that, he had senior roles in Corporate Development and Product at Google. Dave graduated from UC Berkeley with a Bachelor’s degree in Astrophysics.

Risa Stack

Dr. Risa Stack is a venture capitalist, entrepreneur and founder of multiple successful life sciences businesses. She is a Partner of The Production Board (TPB), a venture foundry and investment holding company established to solve the most fundamental problems that affect our planet by reimagining global systems of production across food, agriculture, biomanufacturing, human health, and the broader life sciences. TPB builds and invests in businesses based on emerging scientific discoveries, partners with exceptional talent, and provides them with the capital, infrastructure and market insights needed to deliver meaningful improvement in the cost, energy, time, or carbon footprint of conventional systems.

Risa has played a significant role in the early operations, financing and development of more than 25 companies. Risa founded two companies: Veracyte (NASDAQ:VYCT) and Menlo Microsystems. Before TPB, Risa created and led the GE Ventures New Business Creation team, which founded new businesses across multiple industries. Prior to GE Ventures Risa was a partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers where she founded and developed therapeutics, tools, and molecular diagnostics companies. She began her investing career at J.P. Morgan Partners. Before joining the venture capital industry, Risa worked as a derivative specialist on the Chicago Board of Trade. Risa holds a B.S. in Genetics and Development with distinction from the University of Illinois, a Ph.D. in immunology from the University of Chicago, and was a member of the second class of Kauffman Fellows.

Bharat Vasan

Bharat Vasan is a proven operator, investor and board member with more than 20 years of experience at successful early-stage technology businesses and Fortune 100 companies. He is a Partner of The Production Board (TPB), a venture foundry and investment holding company established to solve the most fundamental problems that affect our planet by reimagining global systems of production across food, agriculture, biomanufacturing, human health, and the broader life sciences. TPB builds businesses based on emerging scientific discoveries, partners with exceptional talent, and provides them with the capital, infrastructure and market insights needed to deliver meaningful improvement in the cost, energy, time, or carbon footprint of conventional systems.

Bharat has an exceptional track record, leading and building early-stage startups in digital health and consumer hardware and software, including BASIS Science (acquired by Intel), August Home (acquired by Assa Abloy) and PAX Labs. He serves on several corporate and non-profit boards including Supergut, TPB Acquisition Corp I, Brightloom and the San Francisco SPCA. Bharat also brings a strong financial and M&A background, having led as a division COO/CFO and a member of Electronic Arts’ mergers & acquisitions team. Bharat is an active investor in emerging consumer technology businesses and looks to partner with founders who share his obsession for iterating on customers, product, brand and team strategy. Having led startups through multiple market cycles, he is a fan of mission-driven businesses with strong cultures.
