Bharat Vasan is a Partner and COO at TPB. Overseeing TPB’s consumer technology portfolio, Bharat actively invests in, advises and serves on the boards of early-stage businesses. He is always looking to partner with founders who share his obsession with building category-defining technology companies that reverberate in popular culture, while doing good for the planet.
Bharat is one of Silicon Valley’s most battle-tested and proven CEOs and operators, with multiple successful exits (including BASIS, acquired by Intel, and August Home, acquired by Assa Abloy). He has more than 20 years of experience at successful early-stage technology businesses and Fortune 100 companies. He has founded and led startups through multiple economic cycles, pivots, rebrands, and hypergrowth. His superpowers include: company narrative, team and culture formation, complex product development, shipping relentlessly, and fundraising/M&A.
Bharat grew up in India, consuming massive amounts of American pop culture while frequently moving to new cities as part of a military family. He got his wish to move to the promised land in the mid-90’s to get his Bachelor’s degree from Middlebury College and graduate degree from Columbia University. Always a tinkerer, Bharat is TPB’s in-house expert on the hottest new products and historical consumer trends. He and his wife are active supporters of the San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, where he sits on the board. Ask him about his pet photography side hustle, Madden NFL video game ranking, or international travel and scuba diving adventures.
